Why ReSpark?

Electronics you understand, because you built it.

  • Reuse

Give suitable electronic components another useful purpose.

  • Learn by Building

    Understand electronics through hands-on projects.

  • Create

Experiment, modify and build beyond the basic instructions.

  • Think Circular

Learn how products and components can stay useful for longer.

Why reuse matters

Around 40 percent: Average greenhouse-gas emission-reduction potential associated with reuse and product-life-extension measures studied

Source: European Environment Agency (EEA), 2026

ReSpark applies this circular idea to STEM education by giving suitable electronic components a second use.

This is a broader research finding about reuse and product-life extension, not a measurement of ReSpark kits.

Live estimate

tonnes of e-waste generated worldwide so far in 2026, at about 2.28 tonnes every second

Estimate based on the Global E-waste Monitor 2024 (ITU & UNITAR): 62 million tonnes in 2022, projected to reach 82 million tonnes by 2030 (about 72 million tonnes this year). Full live counter on StatsPanda

The ReSpark model

From discarded electronics to hands-on learning.

See how it works
  1. 01

    Collect

    Suitable discarded electronics are sourced.

  2. 02

    Inspect

Components are checked for visible damage and suitability.

  3. 03

    Test

Usable components are tested before being included.

  4. 04

    Sort

Suitable components are separated from unsuitable material.

  5. 05

    Build

Recovered components are combined with selected new components to create project kits.

  6. 06

    Learn

Students use the kits to explore electronics, circuits, motors, sensors and renewable-energy concepts.

Honest by design

Recovered where it’s suitable. New where it matters.

ReSpark combines suitable recovered components with selected new components to create affordable, safe and reliable STEM kits.

Not every component in a ReSpark kit is recycled, and every product page says exactly which parts are which. Parts that are inexpensive, safety-critical, difficult to recover reliably or unsuitable for reuse are bought new.

Safety first

Reuse only works when it’s safe.

Our safety page
  • Inspected and tested

Only suitable components are selected. Damaged or unsuitable parts are excluded.

  • No salvaged battery cells

Salvaged battery cells are never included in ReSpark kits.

  • Batteries not included

New AA cells may be required for operation.
