Here’s how we choose what goes into a ReSpark kit, what never does, and a few simple habits for building safely.

About batteries
Why we never reuse battery cells.
The condition of a battery cell taken from an old device can’t be known with confidence, so salvaged battery cells are never part of a ReSpark kit.
Where a project needs power, it’s designed for new AA cells, which you provide. Battery holders and battery casings may be reused after appropriate quality checks. They hold new cells only.
Quick checklist
- Use new AA cells where the project needs them.
- Follow the project instructions for each component.
- Build with an adult or teacher when supervision is required.
- Something looks damaged? Tell us before using it.
Unsuitable e-waste has a proper place.
Unsuitable e-waste should go through appropriate e-waste channels. It is not placed into ReSpark kits.
