Mini Space Rover
A solar-assisted rover.
STEM kit · Control circuits
Build a working traffic-light model and explore manual and automatic electronic control.
About 15 g of parts recovered from discarded electronics get a second life in every kit. (Estimate)
A hands-on traffic signal model operated manually to demonstrate basic circuits and switching.
An automatically sequenced traffic signal using a simple timer and counter circuit.

Batteries are not included with ReSpark kits. New AA cells may be required for operation. Salvaged battery cells are never included.
Manual or automatic?
| Manual — ₹250 | Automatic — ₹299 | |
|---|---|---|
| How the lights change | By hand, using the switch | Automatically, in sequence |
| Control circuit | Switch on a breadboard / simple circuit, with a 220 Ω resistor for each LED | 555 timer and CD4017 counter on a breadboard, with suitable resistors |
| Concepts | Basic circuits, switching, LEDs | Timing, counting and sequencing, LEDs, resistors |
| Shared parts | LEDs, wires, casing, pole and cardboard base | |
The automatic sequence comes from a new 555 timer and CD4017 counter that students build on a breadboard. No salvaged circuit board controls the lights.

ReSpark combines suitable recovered components with selected new components to create affordable, safe and reliable STEM kits.
Components that can safely be recovered from suitable discarded electronics after inspection and testing.
Components intentionally purchased new because they are inexpensive, safety-critical, difficult to recover reliably, or unsuitable for reuse.
Not included: batteries. New AA cells may be required for operation.
